Today, intermediate students from Grades Five to Seven were given the opportunity to witness and participate in Canadian democracy. By using the Elections Canada Student Vote kit, one hundred and seven students cast an 'official' ballot for the upcoming federal election.
The voting process was officiated by several Grade Five students under the supervision of Mrs. Kerrigan and was respected as students used their earthquake ID to check in with the voting clerks, received a ballot and then placed their ballot into sealed boxes.
The voting results were sent to Elections Canada along with results from 9500 other Canadian schools who participated in this educational lesson. Results will be announced and published on Tuesday, after the true Federal results are in.
Thanks to Mrs. Douglas, Mr. Penney and all of the Grade Five classes who put forth such a powerful effort to show leadership within SFDS.
Don't forget to vote on Monday October 21st!
