First of all, the weather cooperating beautifully: not too hot, not too cold. Secondly, our student teachers who are visiting from Switzerland returned for the morning just to see what we Canadians do on Play Day and were delighted to be the judges - along with our pastor, Father Smith - of the Cheer Competition, determining the Blue House aka "Aqua Attack" to be the winners.
So many parents came to help at the various stations and in the kitchen, led by the formidable and friendly Mrs. D who ensured that all received sustenance at noon after a tiring morning of competition and fun. Thank you, Mrs. R., for your behind the scenes support! Thank you, Catholic Women's League, for treating us to ice cream bars!
Our team of staff members prepared many great opportunities for students to challenge themselves and test their skills and ability to cooperate with one another for points. Their hours of preparation and planning, attainment of resources (how else would we create phone booths for superhero changing), and spirit of comraderie helped pull the day off without a hitch.
Congratulations to the Yellow House for their ultimate victory! And thank you to all who are responsible for making the day the success that is was, including everyone who helped with cleaning up - always an unglamorous but necessary job.
Parents and grandparents, your presence makes days like these an absolute joy! Thank you for being one of many answers to the question: "What do you want of me, Lord?" by prioritizing what matters to your children.
