Following an evening teleconference with the Ministry of Education, FISA has been asked to expeditiously distribute the following information:

The Ministry of Education is taking no action at this time to close BC schools. Any deliberations schools may engage in regarding a possible school closure must include consultation with their local Health Officer and, for FISA member schools, the Head of their school association.   

BC Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Henry and Health Minister Dix announced today the following information that directly concerns independent schools (https://youtu.be/f84BGlFvriU) (https://twitter.com/adriandix/status/1238238322717118464?s=20) :· Non-essential travel outside of Canada is not recommended and anyone choosing to travel outside of Canada (including to the United States) will be required to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return to Canada.

A cabinet committee has been established to continue to respond effectively to this emergent situation. More information will be included in the DM Bulletin scheduled to go out to schools on Friday, March 13th.
