As we continue to celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Christ, let us reflect on St. Peter and St. John, who at the testimony of Mary Magdalene raced to the tomb on Easter morning. Seeing the open tomb and the neatly folded burial cloths, St. John writes that he believed (John 20:8).

Similarly, our celebration of Christ’s Resurrection over two millennia later is meant to increase our supernatural faith in the God who has conquered death and restored life through the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. In Baptism, we, with Christ, shed our burial cloths, so to speak—that is, shed the sin that held us chained to death—and with Christ we rise to new life.

Now, partakers in the divine nature through Christ’s sacraments, we the Church “tell of his salvation from day to day” and “declare his glory among the nations” (Ps 96:2–3).
