Canonization of Carlo Acutis & Pier Giorgio Frassati
This month, the Catholic Church joyfully welcomes two inspiring young figures into the canon of saints. On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the canonization of:
  • Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925), a devoted layman of the Dominican Third Order, beloved for his love of mountaineering, fierce sense of justice, and compassionate service to the poor, often called the patron of young people and athletes.
  • Carlo Acutis (1991–2006), a web-savvy, Eucharist‑devoted teen who used his programming talents to catalog Eucharistic miracles and promote the faith online. Known affectionately as “God’s influencer” and often described as the first millennial saint, he is a powerful role model for digital-age youth.
Their joint canonization, set to take place in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, marks a special moment in the Jubilee of Youth 2025, highlighting lived holiness in both traditional and modern contexts.
Why it matters:
These young saints, centuries apart in birth but united in youthful zeal, offer fresh, relatable examples of faith for people of all ages. Whether scaling mountains or navigating the digital world, their lives speak to the many ways holiness can be lived today.
